After breakfast depart Longyearbyen by snowmobile. Ride across frozen fjords and glacier valleys, stopping for lunch in a lavvu tent camp. Continue over sea ice with opportunities for wildlife spotting before arriving in the abandoned Soviet settlement of Pyramiden; one of the most fascinating places in the polar world. You will explore the settlement with a guided walk through its preserved buildings and haunting history.

Today explore the ghost town on foot with a guided walk through schools, community spaces, and historic buildings. In the afternoon, head out by snowmobile to the striking Tarantulen rock formation before returning to Pyramiden for dinner.

Depart Pyramiden and travel deeper into the Arctic interior to visit glacial ice caves. Continue onward to Nordenskiold Lodge, your remote wilderness base. In the afternoon choose a meditation workshop or go wildlife spotting on the sea ice.

Head toward the east coast of Svalbard, entering prime polar bear habitat with your expert guide. Spend the day snowmobiling across sea ice and scanning for wildlife, then return to Nordenskiold Lodge for dinner.

Snowmobile back towards Longyearbyen, stopping at a dog yard for a trapper-style lunch. Enjoy a half-day dog sledding experience before making the final leg back to town. Celebrate with a farewell dinner in Longyearbyen.

Blachford Lake offers trophy sized Lake Trout and Northern Pike! In recent years the winning entries in our Trophy Release Contest were a 38 lb. Lake Trout, and a 32 lb. Northern Pike. Whitefish can be caught in Blachford Lake, and Walleye (around 4 or 5 lb.) can be caught on two of the adjoining lakes that are just a short walk from Blachford Lake. The ice melts on the lake in early June making it an excellent time for fishing.
