This guide will help you get acquainted with the lodge, our facilities, available activities, and a few important safety tips so you can relax and enjoy your stay.
Where We Are

Blachford Lodge is located approximately 100km (62 miles) east of Yellowknife, in the traditional territory of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation (Chief Drygeese Territory)

There is an old abandoned trapper’s cabin on the far side of the lake and a historic mine roughly halfway between Blachford Lake and the East Arm of Great Slave Lake.

This is true wilderness. Aside from these, there is no nearby development.

The lodge sits on the north shore of Blachford Lake, surrounded by boreal forest and open skies
The Lodge & Facilities
Our main lodge is open 24 hours a day for you to enjoy. We simply ask the you close exterior doors behind you.

Washrooms
Environmentally friendly composting toilets are located in the lodge. Please dispose of anything other than toilet paper in the provided waste bins.

Wildlife & Wilderness Safety
Your safety is our highest priority. Before exploring on your own, please let a staff member know where you’re going and approximately when you plan to return. A guest sign-out logbook is located near the main entrance.

While Exploring:
- Always carry a flash light, bear spray, and air horn.
- Never approach or feed animals.
- Keep all food and scented items indoors.

If you hear or use three blasts of an air horn, it signals a bear sighting. Return to the lodge immediately unless instructed otherwise.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of a fire or other emergency, please gather in front of the Main Lodge unless directed otherwise by staff. Our team is trained in Wilderness First Aid, Emergency Response, and Wildlife Safety. Please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance at any time.
