ICE CLIMBING

The ice climbing course provides an introduction to ice climbing equipment, techniques and safety considerations. The course may be conducted in Ontario or on grounded frozen in icebergs in the arctic. Participants will learn how to tie knots, how to set up anchor points for a top belay and how to belay and rapel on ice. Basic mountaineering skills for climbing gradual inclines on icebergs will be covered in addition to a discussion about different types and conditions of ice both in the "south" and in the arctic.
