ADVANCED ICE DIVING COURSE

OVERVIEW
The Advanced Ice Diver course builds on the knowledge and comfort levels established in the Ice Diver course, allowing for more advanced explorations under the ice. Whereas the initial ice diver certification provides participants with the knowledge of how to dive under ice, the advanced diver course provides divers with hands-on experience with every aspect of ice diving, from advanced safety techniques, emergency situation management and leadership skills to building familiarity and comfort with more complex and difficult ice diving conditions.

Course Highlights
Wall dives, shipwrecks, land fast ice, stationary pack ice, drift ice, pressure cracks/ridges and more depending on ice conditions. Every day the ice can change!

Who Should Take This Course?
Advanced ice diving skills are essential for those who plan to dive regularly under ice, and for those who wish to lead ice diving groups or ice dive without professional supervision. It is a leadership level course, empowering participants to handle potential ice diving contingencies both underwater and topside with confidence.

Underwater Photographers/Videographers
Underwater visibility is generally at it's best under ice. Getting the right shot, however, requires a facility and comfort beneath the ice beyond that of a typical ice diver. The Advanced Ice Diver course develops the skills necessary to handle these conditions, insuring safety and comfort below the ice.

Prerequisites
Ice Diver Certification, Drysuit Certification/Experience.

Experience: Divers must be certified ice divers and be comfortable and experienced diving dry. It is recommended, though not required, that divers have deep diver training. All participants must be comfortable diving to 25-35 meters in cold water. Enriched air certification is desirable though not required.

Course Format
The Advanced Ice Diver course is taught by experienced ice diving instructors over four days in a daily mini-expedition style format. We plan for each person to do four to five ice dives or as many as conditions permit. Discussions of ice diving techniques and best practices are held on Day 1, followed by practical ice diving sessions Day 2 through 4. To provide the personal touch and best possible instruction, maximum ice divers in a course program is set at 8.

ICE DIVING EXPERTS
Drawing upon decades of experience on and beneath the Arctic ice, Arctic Kingdom is able to provide training that replicates the Arctic diving experience in a region much closer to home. The Arctic is home to a variety of conditions, from drifting pack ice to massive icebergs and huge pressure cracks. In Ontario's 1000 Islands, we have chosen a location with ice conditions similar to the Arctic, offering a wide range of training scenarios. Using our state-of-the-art airboat, you will be able to experience ice that has never been accessed before, safely and reliably.
