Arctic Dive Weekend
Arctic Dive Weekend Overview
Dive into an Arctic adventure unlike any other in Frobisher Bay – home of the second largest tides in the world!
Arctic diving just became a long-weekend getaway, because Iqaluit is only a 3-hour flight from Ottawa - a flight that is INCLUDED in the package price. You will immerse yourself in the stunning Arctic scenery above and below the water. Experience sublime diving conditions with crystal clear water and the warm hospitality of the Inuit people. The chance of wildlife encounters is always present under the water and on land.
Please note: Minimum requirement for participation is Advanced Openwater for PADI certification.
Capital of Nunavut
The capital of Nunavut is located on Frobisher Bay on Baffin Island. The community was originally a military airbase built during WWII. Iqaluit International Airport is the nexus of a thriving air passenger and cargo industry. Since becoming the territorial capital, the city's infrastructure has grown at an amazing rate. Iqaluit offers all of the modern conveniences you could need, from fine dining to shopping, as well as cultural experiences and outdoor adventures.
Just outside the city is a wealth of natural attractions. The picturesque Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park and River is a one kilometer walk from Iqaluit. There, you’ll find Thule archaeological sites, a variety of rare plants, several species of wildlife, and about 40 species of birds. The river is also a great spot to catch Arctic char, while the falls make a beautiful backdrop for a picnic.
