With one final re-fuel stop in Nain, Labrador, you will then fly over the Torngat Mountains and land directly at the base camp. You may even see polar bears on your flight in! You’ll be greeted by our welcome buffet prepared by our chef and a tour of your new accommodations. Settle into your heated Torngat Mountain Base camp complete with all the comforts of home – your Arctic oasis.

Day 3-6

Over the course of the next week, we will explore the jaw dropping mountains, fiords and bays in and around the Torngat Mountain National Park by snowmobiles and helicopter. One Day Helicopter Sortie in search of Polar Bear. We fly over the ice floe where the ice meetsopen water and see a polar bears – hopefully even mother and cubs at an open body of water. We land on a small island and observe the mother and cubs that follow close behind. We spot countless polar bears along the way. On past trips we have stopped for lunch on a high mountain top, and watched polar bears climb and then slide down the mountains side by side unaware of our presence. It is this observation of polar bears in their natural environment that is our main objective.

Daily Polar Bear Sorties via Snowmobile and Cabriolet Sleds

We conduct daily sorties onto the sea ice and directly in the midst of polar bear country via snowmobile. There are countless polar bear tracks criss-crossing the sea ice and evidence of bears in the area. From the curious young bears to mothers with cubs to an absolute giant of an alpha male, there are all types of polar bears to observe in their natural habitat. It can bumpy at times as we travel over drifted area. Note: using snowmobiles and sleds that cross on even ground /snow/ or ice can result in bumpy ride. This trip is not for you if you have a history of back problems /ailments.

Northern Lights

Situated directly in the prime lights viewing band where the most intense and reliable northern lights occur, we eagerly await sunset each evening and the first hints of the northern lights to appear in the darkening night sky.

Day 7

After one last morning excursion on the land for polar bears, red fox and arctic wolf, we will depart the lodge at 2:00pm via helicopter for the 3 hour flight to Goose Bay. Overnight in Goose Bay.
